Randomness for 1/12

Two covers

1) Commissioner Gordon is a Jerk.

2) What’s it like living in Playboy Mansion? Apparently, the answer is: rigidly schduled.

3) Drill Close to Reaching 14-Million-Year-Old Antarctic Lake.

4) Hoping for a big time Hollywood deal? Hah!

5) Muslims protect Christians.

6) Don’t buy your comics from this asshole.

7) “Inland tsunami” sweeps away cars in Toowoomba, Australia. Video part one. Video part two.

Argh, I can't view the Australia flood videos.

I really, really hate some aspects of modern technology.

Holy crap.

That guy who rescued his jeep at the last minute is going to dine for a month on that story.

And he was damn lucky not to have been swept away. It only takes six inches of flowing water to knock a person off their feet.

I was thinking that the first time I saw that video. The "tsunami" ripped houses from their foundations and dumped them kilometres away if they weren't smashed to kindling.

Up until yesterday we've been getting 24 hour news coverage on a couple TV channels here in Oz of the disaster in Queensland. Amazing videos have come out. Stories of incredible heroism and awful tragedy. They found one bloke's body 80km (50 miles) downstream from where he went missing for example. The floods have covered an area of about 500,000 square km or about the area of Germany and France in Queensland alone. Now it is flooding in the state of Victoria.

We live in a hard country. To over simplify, during El Nino events we have drought and fire. During El Nina it floods but these are the worst floods in decades.

I'd never realized Australia was so... exciting.

Stay safe.

In boring ol' Sydney nothing ever happens (famous last words).
