I was a huge fan of the show ANGEL

Ray Lilly

I mean, seriously. I liked it from the first episode. So how happy was I to see the Twenty Palaces books listed on io9.com as books that could fill the void. Money quote:

Basically, if you want a series that’s entirely based on the storyline about Angel going to work at Wolfram & Hart, this might be the closest you’ll get in book form.

As you might expect, the sales rank on Amazon for Child of Fire improved by quite a bit, although they’re returned to normal now. I’m also getting brand new 2-star reviews, a 5-star review that suggests the books would be perfect for “An urban fantasy fan who loves death”, and a mini-surge in sales of the prequel (although that’s still declining).

It’s nice to know folks are still finding the books. It won’t change the status of the series by any degree, but a high profile recommendation is a high profile recommendation.

I used to hate Angel's character on "Buffy", but I really loved the spin-off. Especially season 1 because it had such a neo-noir feel to it. And it was just Angel, Cordy and that Irish sounding guy whose name I forgot, all scraping for money in that crappy little office. I really loved the atmosphere.

Anyway, great to hear that the books are still getting attention! I personally don't see the connection between "Angel" and "Child of Fire" but that's probably just me. I still love the book to death, though.

The Irish guy died not too many years ago. He was really talented but he couldn't get a handle on his addictions and overdosed.

I loved the atmosphere, too. There's much less romance teen heartbreak stuff.

I guess the connection between Ray and Angel is that they both work for the Bad Guys.

Good to see reviews popping up for the series. I still think it is a shame the publisher didn't continue the series but I understand the numbers game. At least you didn't get left with only book 3 of a 4 book series published. And if you ever do publish any more of Ray's story I would be glad to buy it. I've already grabbed all the shorts of yours from Amazon that I could find.
