That’s right. I made goal in under 8 hours.

I owe a billion responses to people and a hundred billion thank yous, but right now I cracked a bottle of my traditional celebration beer (Arrogant Bastard Ale–so tasty!) and I’m going to have dinner with my family.

Thank you, everyone. Thank you to everyone who pledged and to everyone who shared the news.

I feel like I missed the party - I’m late to LJ, and I’m just reading now, and ... you’ve already funded o.O.

Thank you. It's pretty weird. I'd expected to spend the whole month begging in humorous or diplomatic ways. Now I don't know what the hell to do (except work on the books, naturally).

Keep selling, or as long as it pays off. Set the stage for the final day, so that you give all the fence sitters a good push. If you haven't read some of Tim Ferris's stuff on publicity, do so. He knows how to promote, and how to hack systems to make them work for you.

But I'm a lost cause, I saw the email subject line, thought "I'll put in about $100", and did so when I got to work, two hours later. Probably not going to bump to $250. But I've done my part.

I thought using stuff from peoples notebooks in the limited edition hardcovers for his self published short story collection was cool, though classically, you'd have the map there in a fantasy book.

I'm pretty excited about the map, actually. I have an excellent artist doing it.

I'll keep telling people about it, and trying to get interesting stretch goals for people. Part of the plan, now that the initial push is over (and successful) is to be interesting online with extra notes here and there to let people know about the KS.

The whole thing is tremendously time consuming, but worth it.

Super-thank you! I'm sorta blown away.

Great news. You did a marvelous job with the Kickstarter---the pitch and video are really excellent.
Sep. 20th, 2013 05:06 am (UTC)
Thank you for saying that. I was overly critical of the video and wanted to do another version, but I was having food reactions and ugh, the horribleness.

I owe my agent a thank you card. She convinced me to drop my first attempt and sell the book more.

Thank you!

I am as pleased as if this was my own Kickstarter. Congratulations, man! Holy crap! You go, Harry! :)

It's weird, right? Crazy weird. Also very good.

I'll take my 306 million thank yous now, please. We can count the two in the post above towards the goal to make things easier.

Can't wait to see what the stretch goals are!

Hey, you deserve all those thank yous. I know you posted to reddit and other places too. Sharing the news is a big deal and part of the reason for the project's success.

Thanks a ton.

Congratulations! It is gratifying and encouraging for all of us also to see that your hard work pays off. So Thank You! Way to go!

Thank you, too.

A hearty congratulations!

I missed the initial launch too *sigh*

I guess now you'll just have to do another Kickstarter and hopefully more of us will be around when that one begins. lol.

Ah well, I guess it gives me a couple more weeks to pledge, so that'll save me some interest somewhere. Meanwhile, I did one dedicated post/link at an established sff site and will try to work some casual mentions, links into some other conversations along the way. Hopefully it'll bring at least a couple more people in.

This must be a great feeling for you. It's very well deserved and congrats again.

Well, everyone's credit card gets charged at the same time, so pledging at the end of the fund drive is just as good as pledging at the start. Whatever works for you is cool by me.

And thanks very much for sharing the news. I'm getting a lot of visitors from unexpected places.

Oh yeah. Like the lawyers who get obvious really venal criminals off because it makes their success rate look good. But those are not the ones I am referring to in meaning well. These guys are mixed…

This reminds me of the time my wife was injured and the insurance guy handling her case did everything possible to deny and stall the payment. We had to put her surgery on a credit card because this…

The creepiest part is that some of them are actually well meaning.

Yeah. It's godawful what people will do when they have authority and no fear about using it.
