Randomness for 5/1

1) The LEVERAXE! which twists in your hand to split wood faster. It’s science!

2) Was the drop in crime caused by unleaded gasoline?

3) Orion, The Masked Man. The singer, not the comic book character.

4) How to make a “sick edit” with mountain bikes. I don’t even know much about mountain bike videos, but I learn a lot from parodies.

5) Is “mankind” the right word to use when you refer to all human beings? Scholars weigh in.

6) German man builds a “web shooter.” This is very similar to the “mini-railgun” ranged weapon my buddy gave to his Champions martial artist years ago.

7) Lip sync battle between Jimmy Fallon and Emma Stone. Video. This is just flat hilarious and amazing.

The lead connection has been talked of for years, and is most vocally opposed by people who refuse to admit one's free will and brain function is impacted by brain health. But if you add in the fact a high percentage of kids diagnosed with ADHD test positive for lead exposure...

IIRC, Gersch is the one heading the Oxford Prison Experiment as well, where researchers are performing long term analysis into the impact of meeting basic nutritional needs on reoffending. (They're using "basic nutrition" to mean the proper balance of vitamins, minerals, proteins, and EFAs rather than the number of calories.) It's pretty interesting stuff.

I hadn't heard of the Oxford Prison Experiment before. Thanks.

They say "unlike the real [webshooter] you have to strap it to your wrist"... what? Don't they know that this is EXACTLY how the Spider-Man webshooters have always worked? The first set of movies made him able to spin webs on his own, but that's the exception, not the rule.

The Raimi films are obviously settled canon for this dude.

Oh. Thanks. I was like "what the hell does he mean, unlike the real ones?" I mean, I liked the Raimi webshooters, but I totally did not default to them being 'real'.

Those *are* cool. :)

Joking aside, I thought he *meant* that it was outside the glove and very bulky, unlike Spidey's super-slim web-shooters.
