"Why should I care?" you may be asking. Well, perhaps you have an interest in film and filmmaking. Perhaps you have an interest in low-budget filmmaking.
Bill Martell is your guy. He's written 19 or 20 produced films--all direct to DVD or cable. Today's post is part one of the story of a film job that fell through. The producer starts out excited to work with him and followed through with insults. There's also a full-on explanation of a "facilities deal" and why he once rewrote a script to take place in Australia, then Mexico, then Portugal, then Eastern Europe, then South Africa.
Me, I find the low budget filmmaking stuff fascinating, and his posts on craft have always been excellent. I don't think I could have written a publishable book without his advice.
