*-- A judge in New Zealand makes a nine-year-old girl a ward of the court so she could change her name. The name she hated and wanted to change? It was "Talula Does the Hula From Hawaii".

Apparently, there has been a trend toward unusual names in NZ, including "Midnight Chardonnay" and "Number 16 Bus Shelter" (commemorating the conception, I assume?) and those are the names that were allowed. Click the link to see some of the names parents were blocked from giving to their kids.

My next book is going to feature a pair of twins named "Fish and Chips." seen via antickmusings

*-- Jim Henley has an interesting article about the decline of the comic book market and genre. Did superhero comics punch out romance, horror and war comics? Seems not. Interesting stuff.

*-- Bill O'Reilly thinks MoveOn.Org "is the new Klan." Yeah, you can guess what I think of that.

*-- Really, what the hell goes through the mind of a man serving a short sentence in a minimum security prison escapes and murders his wife and 3 year old daughter? I have to go with mental illness, because otherwise I can't understand it.

Governor Hogg, (Texas 1981-85) named his daughter Ima. She didn't really have a sister named Ura; that's an urban legend. My wife didn't believe me when I told her about Ima, but she finally saw a museum exhibit donated by Ima Hogg.

I have a work in progress with a character named Fonda Peters.
