Randomness for 6/25

1) via Robin Bailey, this video about a guy who’s mom “beat the gay out of him” is crazy funny. It seems so real at the start…

2) Kitten wearing a tiny hat eats a miniature ice cream cone.

3) Next step: cub burgers. You know what surprises me but shouldn’t? The free-range lion “farm” (not ranch?) in Illinois. No one would believe it if they read it in a book.

4) Steve Martin’s Tour Rider leaked! So funny, and I so want to steal this idea for my upcoming non-existent book tour!

5) Cormac McCarthy’s Toy Story 3.

6) Reality TV artists create book cover designs, prove they are not book designer.

7) The development of the title page, 1470-1900.

The part I find surprising is that anyone orders the lionburger. I've always been told that the big cats aren't good eating.

I'm sure it's for the novelty value. I'd eat one.

They also mix in the lion w/ regular ground beef. I have to wonder at the ratio there.

The lion SHALL lie down with the lamb! Er, cow.

And I prove myself top predator by eating both. :) Yes, there's an appeal there.

I'm afraid I don't know enough about McCarthy to understand WTF the point of that was.

McCarthy wrote All The Pretty Horses and The Road. His work is famously spare and his stories dark.

This article takes him down a couple of pegs for his stylistic quirks and is damn interesting in toto.

1, my friend helped with that title page exhibit
2, I just finished a class called history of the book that talks about the development of the book
3, watch the tiny kitten in a hat audition outtakes, at once hilarious and upsetting.

Your friend is cool.

Also, I'm not much of a fan of kitten videos; I only posted this one because I thought people would enjoy it. Also, it's deeply weird, in a cat-in-a-hat-ish way.

Oh yeah. Like the lawyers who get obvious really venal criminals off because it makes their success rate look good. But those are not the ones I am referring to in meaning well. These guys are mixed…

This reminds me of the time my wife was injured and the insurance guy handling her case did everything possible to deny and stall the payment. We had to put her surgery on a credit card because this…

The creepiest part is that some of them are actually well meaning.

Yeah. It's godawful what people will do when they have authority and no fear about using it.
