Re. #2- I knew two guys at my college, back in '87, who said that they did this (their logic being that it required less booze, so they were saving money). Mind you, I never actually saw them do it- but it seems a rather peculiar false claim to make.

Maybe they were trying to trick you into doing it?

I'm not really feeling the need to experiment with it myself.

Well, #2 is one myth we'll never see the Mythbusters tackle. Thank G-d.

Yeah, they'll assign that one to the B team.

4) why didn't you go with --The best examples of the Twilight series being publicly mocked -- all though all those examples were disturbing as hell.

5) Shark pic - WHY ARE THOSE PEOPLE ON THE CAGE? Those are really great photos.

Because I don't like to mock Twilight fans. I like to see their excesses, but calling them gay or whatever is lame.

And yeah, great photos.

I guess that was mean of me.

I'm not judging (much). I hear an avalanche of bad things about the books. But some of the mockery is uncool, too.

In fairness, I suspect the guy who is into Twilight to that degree probably is gay. I mean, actually homosexual, and attracted to the male characters the way the women are.

That husband who suggested Snuggies and Twilight to his wife might just have wanted to get a little something that night. For all I know, he's parlaying Meyer's books into a volcanic sex life that his chicken-choking Facebook buddies could only dream of.

Showing your wife you support her obsession doesn't require stripping down and throwing yourself at cameras covering the event.

That's all I'm saying. It's entirely possible that he's a heterosexual guy who loves the series because he wants to be a sexy beast like Jacob, or that he's doing it all the impress his wife/girlfriend or potential girlfriends.

But my knowledge of human nature would suggest that he is more likely to have common feeling with the rest of the fans than to be performing for them.

Ah, I was talking about the people in the links geniusofevil posted. That dude with his shirt off? Hell yeah.

Re the Twi-hards: I just don't understand it. I don't understand that level of crazy over anything, not just Twilight.

The NatGeo images are great. That one of the tornado and lightning made me think of the lightning-spewing predator in GoC.

I'm glad that these Autocorrect posts gave a clue as to how the errors happen; that they use your previous communication as a template. Otherwise I would be very curious what dictionary the system was using that caused so many corrections to curse words, sexual slang, and scatological terms.

I'm not prone to great enthusiasms myself. Every day I see people being more excited about some band I've never heard of than I've ever felt in my life.

I have no idea how Autocorrect works. I just assumed the programmers were assholes.

And that's totally cool about that NatGeo pic. I have written sentient tornado monsters before, but not in anything good.

Oh yeah. Like the lawyers who get obvious really venal criminals off because it makes their success rate look good. But those are not the ones I am referring to in meaning well. These guys are mixed…

This reminds me of the time my wife was injured and the insurance guy handling her case did everything possible to deny and stall the payment. We had to put her surgery on a credit card because this…

The creepiest part is that some of them are actually well meaning.

Yeah. It's godawful what people will do when they have authority and no fear about using it.
