Authors, don’t fret those bad reviews. They mean less than you think.

Yes I do glance at 1 star review but if they are stupid I dimiss them. And a campaign like that is just dumb. While I'm not happy at that particular book having a long delay between Hard back and ebook, I'll just wait and buy it eventually when I remember to. ::shrug::

Really a dumb or vindictive review doesn't have any impact on my buying of something.

Amazon has been so hard on so-called sock puppets that they've forbidden authors from reviewing books because gosh, they're so dedicated to the integrity of their review system.

But if people slam books they haven't read because they aren't available on the Kindle, well, that's perfectly jake. Feh.

Yeah people 1 staring reviews because it isn't available on the kindle should be banned. :p

I guess authors have to consider that if they have the following that Robert Jordan has, it doesn't matter if a much anticipated ending to a long series gets a ton of bad reviews on Amazon. I'm going to be buying that book regardless... at least when I get caught up on the series.

You do have a point, though. Personally, there's a price threshold for me to even bother considering reviews on a product. I don't even consider 1 star reviews unless they gave a valid reason for not liking the book. At least a paragraph must be written for me to take them that seriously.

It seems to me that people buy what they want and ratings and reviews are mostly (but not completely) irrelevant. Writers fret over them far beyond they affect sales.

Yeah, if I like an author, I buy every book they release and completely ignore the reviews.

This reminds me of the time my wife was injured and the insurance guy handling her case did everything possible to deny and stall the payment. We had to put her surgery on a credit card because this…

The creepiest part is that some of them are actually well meaning.

Yeah. It's godawful what people will do when they have authority and no fear about using it.
